About Buckeye State Sheriffs’ Association

The Buckeye State Sheriffs’ Association was incorporated in Columbus, Ohio May 16th, 1931. The first meeting occurred at the Great Southern Hotel in downtown Columbus. Those in attendance were meeting in the Red Room of the Hotel. Later the sheriffs adopted a Red Jacket which they proudly wear at all National Sheriffs’ Association meetings and the Association’s Annual Conference. In this instance the term The Red Coats are coming is a good thing.

The National Sheriffs’ Association was founded in Columbus, Ohio on September 26th, 1940. NSA is currently headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia.
